A man has been fined by the Guardia Civil in Cantabria, for talking to his brother while driving on a visit to see their mother.
Álvaro López Iglesias, who works as a professor at an Institute in Britain, told El Comercio Digital that he noted that the Guardia Civil were following them for a time along the motorway at Villaviciosa.
They were then stopped and he was fined 60 € for talking to his brother and for driving ‘without permanent attention’ to the road.
Álvaro says it is a complete abuse of power on the part of the Guardia Civil, and adds that when he said he would go with the agents directly to the barracks to pay the fine instantly, he was told he could not do so as they were ‘going for lunch’.
