Sep 11th, 2008 | By Captain Chaos | Category: Spanish NewsThe man involved, Santiago del Valle, went on to be allegedly involved in the killing of five year old Mari Luz Cortés from Huelva.
The final punishment handed down against the Sevilla judge, Rafael Tirado, who failed to ensure that an earlier prison sentence for abuse of his own daughter, was enforced against Santiago del Valle, the man allegedly responsible, while on that release from prison, for the death of the Huelva five year old Mari Luz Cortés, is a fine of 1,500 €. They voted three to two on the punishment for the judge, considering him guilty of a ‘serious fault’. The judge had claimed the oversight was caused by the volume of work. The prosecutor said that the judge should have been suspended for three years, and he now has a month to appeal the decision.
The fine was set by the General Council for Judicial Power, the body which oversees the judiciary, and has been harshly criticised by Mari Luz’s father, Juan José Cortés. He said that he felt tricked by the decision, and did not feel supported at all by the judiciary. Meanwhile his father, Mari Luz’s grandfather, Juan Cortés, has said that he is to start a hunger strike in protest.
The Government has meanwhile announced that it is considering offering chemical castration to paedophiles who request it. The idea is to make the measure compulsory for those who are considered to have no chance of rehabilitation. The Government is also proposing that released terrorists and paedophiles both be subjected to controlled release for upto 20 years.
