The state of the Spanish economy dominates the Sunday papers

El País reconstructs the keys in the change of direction of the Government. It headlines that Zapatero has taken a political turn to flee from the ‘ghosts of Greece’, and says the Prime Minister has met in secret with union leaders.
El País notes that the markets have been attacking Spain and highlights comments from various leaders.
Celestino Corbacho, Minister of Employment, ‘The crisis needs more than a reform’
Cándido Méndez, head of union UGT – ‘Labour reform is not all the solution’
Ignacio Fernández Toxo, head of union CCOO – ‘The situation needs a rapid agreement’
Gerardo Díaz Ferrán, head of the employers CEOE – ‘The 33 days redundancy contract is not enough’.
El Mundo notes that previous ministers for employment are also calling for pension reforms.

El Mundo leads with the first part of an opinion poll carried out for the paper by Sigma Dos, and headlines that Zapatero’s popularity has fallen behind that of Mariano Rajoy for the first time ever. The paper says the difference between the parties is almost six points and that 51% want early elections.
ABC puts is editorial on the front page. It is titled ‘Spain needs a Government’.
La Razón headlines that the Socialist Party has activated the alarm after the black week for the Government. The paper says Zapatero has called the deputies, senators and Euro MPs in the party to a meeting on Tuesday to seal the new strategy.
Público says that the PSOE is calling for an urgent reaction from the Spanish Prime Minister. The paper says that Ministers and Socialist managers admit that it is the Prime Minister who is getting all the stick, for the lack of coordination and failures in communication.
La Razón also highlights how society is split over possible pension reform, describing it a generational war.

El País notes that the explosives found by police in Portugal were the largest ETA stash yet, saying the house in Óbidos has now revealed 1.5 tons. Terrorist attacks were planned in Cádiz and Madrid according to plans found in the house.
El Mundo headlines the amount and has a front page photo of some of the explosives being blown up by the authorities.
La Razón says that ETA had two telephones to warn about car bomb attacks in Cádiz and Madrid in the house.

Público has a four page report on how the National Court Judge, Baltasar Garzón, is under attack for following up on the missing people from the Franco years. The paper says the Supreme Court is about to put the magistrate on the accused bench.

El País has a large front page photo of the Iranian Foreign Minister, Manucher Mottaki, who has said that a nuclear agreement is close, but the paper says made no proposals. It says the manoeuvre has been received with scepticism in the USA and Europe, and widens the split between the West, Russia and China.

El Mundo says that Gadafi Foundation is collaborating in the release of the three kidnapped Spanish aid workers. The paper says that 5 million € is on its way to Mali.

El País Sunday magazine has a feature on the ‘miracle girl’. She is the only survivor of the Airbus 310 crash in Yemen.

El Mundo notes that NASA now has its feet on the ground. It has launched the Endeavour shuttle but is preparing to make 7,000 redundant.

And finally,
El Mundo has a photo of the man described as the most fertile man in the world. Akuku Danger from Kenya has had 415 children with 130 wives and is expecting again at the age of 92.
