Los Guajares: The Three Villages

Los Guajares in Andalucia comprises of three villages of the Costa Tropical region. These villages are Guájar Fondón, Guájar Alto, and the most popular of them all, the Guájar Faragüit. Guájar has been derived from the Arabic word Wa-run, which basically means something steep or something that is difficult to access. One of the best things about Los Guajares is that it is difficult to access and hence is considered as a great option of trekking in Spain. Los Guajares has a lot of natural beauty that is untouched by modernization and the lure of spending a night at a traditional Spanish village seems quite realistic here. The one thing that stands out in the Los Guájares valley is the use of the ancient Muslim irrigation system that is still seen as the most important aspect of agriculture in this region. It enhances the cultivation of avocados, bananas, and cherimoyas or custard apples.
