The 44 year old had suffered a broken leg and had been reported missing by his wife on Sunday
A 44 year old British mountaineer who was reported missing in the Sierra Nevada on Sunday has been found.
Named with the initials S.M.I., he is now recovering in hospital in Granada with a broken leg. Sources say he is not seriously hurt.
He had left Padrollano on Sunday with the intention of climbing to the top of the Mulhacén, and was finally found on Tuesday afternoon in the area of Güéjar Sierra after he managed to climb down the San Juan barranco and walk into a bar, despite his injuries.
Despite being described as an experienced mountaineer he left on his expedition without crampons or a phone, but did take food, water and adequate clothing. A six man search team had been retracing his steps as inclement weather conditions prohibited the use of a helicopter.
