The yellow flag was flying on the beaches of Almuñécar on Monday as jellyfish appeared close to shore in their greatest numbers so far this summer. Ideal reports Protección Civil treated 45 jellyfish stings, although some of those were children who’d been stung more than once.
30 people were treated in Salobreña, a number the newspaper describes as normal in the type of weather conditions affecting the area on Tuesday, where the jellyfish were seen further out to sea. The green flag flying there indicated the beach was safe for general swimming.
