A Brief History of Andalucian Horses
According to archaeological evidence discovered in the Iberian Peninsula, it is believed that the oldest horse in Costa Tropical is the Iberian Horse, which dates back to almost 25,000 B.C. This horse existed in a primitive form and was known as the Sorraia. Archeologists believe this to be true as they have been shown in various cave paintings found all across the Iberian Peninsula and these paintings date back to almost 20,000 BC.
The history of the Andalucian horses goes well before the birth of Christ and at a time when the Romans had conquered Spain. This was the time when the Romans came across this breed of horse and were all praise for its qualities. This horse was later cross-bred with Arab horses by the Moorish conquerors. Once the Moors left Spain, these horses from the Costa Tropical region became extremely popular and were taken by many Spanish conquistadors to America.
The Andalucian beauty even laid the foundation for the royal horse of Denmark called the Frederiksborg as well as the Neapolitan horseand many other breeds.
