Albondon: The Historical Town

The town of Albondon in Andalucia is said to be of Arab origin and it enjoyed some really special splendor in that era. Albondon was conquered by Christians who expelled the Moriscos and thus the population of the area went down. Albondon in Costa Tropical remained the property of Count Cifuentes and finally became independent in 1653. In the 19th century, the population of Albondon started to grow thanks to the cultivation and production of wine. Due to tropical farming and active tourism, today Albondon is one of the few towns in Spain that has a thriving economy.
